5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the regular Diaper Genie 2, September 27, 2008

This review is from: Playtex Diaper Genie Elite Diaper Disposal Pail (Baby Product)
This product took into consideration the few criticisms of the diaper genie 2 and improved on it. It has a little pedal you step on to open the top lid, you put your diaper in and release. Truly one handed operation, minimal smell because of the way the internal clasp seals the bag when you step on the pedal, and you never touch the inside bag. Occasionally, if I don't step on the pedal all the way, I get a whif of the internal contents because the clasp doesn't seal all the way...but I figure thats my fault for not doing it correctly. It now has a handle on the front so you can carry it with one hand, and emptying is similar to genie 2. If your a fan of the diaper genie...you'll like this product.

You do still have to buy their refills, and that is the one big drawback. I've seen the price come down to equal that of genie 1 refills, so if your already paying for them, then its not a problem. Our refills last 3 weeks with our toddler's diapers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better Than Diaper Champ, December 30, 2008
This review is from: Playtex Diaper Genie Elite Diaper Disposal Pail (Baby Product)
I got this at one of my baby showers and my neighbor also lent me her Diaper Champ. At first we used the Genie in the nursery and the Champ in the master bedroom which is where my little girl sleeps most of the time. I especially appreciate the pedal and the height of the container. Here are some reasons why I like it better than the Champ:
1. I can throw individual wet wipes into the Genie without getting the container soiled. This comes in handy with those really, really messy BMs.
2. I don't have to crank a handle back and forth like the Champ. I found this so appealing especially for those late night diaper changes that I eventually moved the diaper Genie to where the baby slept at night.
3. It does a better job of keeping the odor out. I have a really strong sense of smell and I could smell the soiled diapers in the room with the Champ. I used regular garbage bags in the Genie so maybe upgrading to one of those odor preventing garbage bags may have helped... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Glorified Trash Can, Expensive Refills, February 24, 2010
By
Tom C (Irvine, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Playtex Diaper Genie Elite Diaper Disposal Pail (Baby Product)
The Diaper Genie in and of itself isn't bad, but there's nothing magical about it either. As a trash can for diapers, it's OK, but I can only give it three stars for two reasons:

* It's billed as some kind of magical device that's going to port your smelly diapers to a better place, when in reality, it's a cheap although stylish plastic bin with a plastic bag inside.

* The cartridges are such a rip-off! At about 7 bucks each, they last less than a month, or about 4-5 Diaper Genie loads of diapers. Think of how many regular trash bags you can get for $7 (I just bought a box of 200 for $8).

That being said, you can still use a Diaper Genie and save a ton of money (I estimate we'll save about $200 over the next two years) by simply using regular trash bags in place of the way-overpriced cartridges. Simply buy 16 gallon tall kitchen bags and insert the top of the bag into the lip of a spent cartridge. I can't guarantee the odor control will be as... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a staple!, October 4, 2010

This review is from: Motherlove Herbal Nipple Cream (1 oz) (Baby Product)
I tried this and the Earth Mama Angel Baby nipple butter--putting one on each nipple several times a day to compare both pre and postnatally. EMAB made my nipple really sensitive--so sensitive, that when my daughter nursed, I actally cried out in pain after several feedings! I switched to using Motherlove on both nipples, and the difference was prettymuch immediate. An hour after putting it on, she fed again, and there was no pain!

There have also been many times where I have neglected to put it on after several feedings in a row, and my nipples have gotten sore. as soon as I put it on again, it soothes the discomfort, and within an hour, I am back to almost no discomfort.

It smells faintly of olive oil (its first ingredient), and goes on really smoothly--it does not hurt when spread over sore nipples, and you don't need a lot (my daughter is 2 1/2 months old, and I'm *maybe* 1/4 of the way through the pot). Yes, it's small--a little bigger than a pot... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Allowed me to continue breastfeeding, September 8, 2006

Eve "joojeve" (los angeles, ca) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Motherlove Herbal Nipple Cream (1 oz) (Baby Product)
This cream is the best. I had really sore cracked nipples the first week I was nursing my daughter. I was putting Lasinoh cream on my nipples, but it was so thick that putting it on was painful. Then, a friend suggested this cream. Wow, what a difference, it is oily but goes on smooth and heals the nipples like you would not believe. It does smell a bit like olve oil (one of the ingridiants), but it does not bother me. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Also good for cradle cap, January 1, 2006
By

This review is from: Motherlove Herbal Nipple Cream (1 oz) (Baby Product)
Our son had the most horrible case of cradle cap. The pediatrician's office suggested this cream. Don't be fooled by the photo, the jar is very small, but the salve is very concentrated. The texture and color looks like vaseline, but actually is much thinner when spread on, and absorbs easier. There is only the faintest smell, and not mediciney either. The ingredients contain shea butter and calendula.

It has really helped with the cradle cap, severely diminishing the horrible weeping/scaling/flakiness of the condition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this rack, August 21, 2007

Yes, it is a good size, but great for those moms who need extra space for breastpump parts and bottles. We have the Skip Hop drying rack also, but prefer this drying rack hands down!

The different size levels are great for keeping the 4 and 8 oz. bottles seperated. The drying middles are wonderful for pump pieces, nipples, and sealing caps.

Highly recommend this Drying Rack.

Leaving a review because I with I'd known before buying -- this is a very flimsy product and it doesn't work with glass bottles. Hope this helps someone.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best baby bottle drying rack!, June 18, 2007
By
This review is from: The First Years Spinning Drying Rack, White (Baby Product)
Although we wash bottles, nipples, etc. in the dishwasher, they never dry completely, so I need to put them in a drying rack afterward. I didn't want to throw them in our regular dish drainer because they're hard to access and take up too much space. This drying rack has a minimal footprint but most importantly comes with a drip tray so you can use it either in the middle of a counter (like us), or draining directly into the sink.
